May 15, 2006: Well, gorram it all to the depths of space.
Chris, who is doing up the pages for Shattering The Mirror, has had yet ANOTHER issue with his computer. The thing is completely toes up. I'm waiting for him to finish up the pages for the story and mail them to me. At that point, I will scan them, put them in
to the ol' Photoshop and Illustrator for lettering, and upload them. I'm also waiting on some more prelims from Brian for Talking Of Heroes, so that we can avoid any continuity issues. I'm really sorry to keep doing this. The plot itself is easy, the writing is easy. Computer problems, not so easy.
August 25, 2005: AIR! *gasp*
Yeah, after a prolonged hiatus, we're back. The comic is updated through to June 24th's page. Chris has had a huge problem with his scanner, which led to a prolonged absence. The filler will stay where it has been for now, but when the time to archive Shattering The Mirror
comes around, we'll just link to all the proper pages, and leave the Filler in the Gallery where it belongs (when the Gallery finally goes live). The Site Redesign is still under development. Content management is eluding us. In any event, here we go. Life is good. Chris will be snail-mailing me more art
as soon as he's got it done.
In the meantime...
Are you scared of Jacosta, yet?
July 10, 2005: We are very, very behind on the comic (yeah, no shit, huh?), but there is something in the works that we hope you will like. That's right, we're talking about a complete site redesign, including a content management system (we hope!) that will make
updating the site a hell of a lot faster and easier. I may even be able to swing something that will allow Chris and Brian to update their own sections of the site independantly of me, which will make things much cleaner and easier for all involved. At the very least, the site will be getting
a visual overhaul, including cleaner navigation and new graphics. We can thank my lovely and talented friend "G," from parts North, for the conceptual design behind the new site, and the lion's share of the new design.
All that said - Life update: Jim is involved in scripting up the final portions of the third prologue for Brian, and has a Scanner for Brian to use, if he ever comes to pick it up *smirk*. Chris has had one too many close calls with the man in the black robe with the scythe for comfort, and
Brian... Well, he's got his own stories to tell.
The image on the front page is a project I'm working on for a second comic - probably will follow Anara in its delivery - called (tentatively) Alice In Cyberland. It promises to be a bloody, delirious, passionate ride through strange and unusual circumstances, if we can get it done properly.
The image itself is 14 layers, in photoshop, and isn't finished yet. I thought I'd show you some of my color work, and some of the process I use to get it where it goes.
March 31, 2005: Chris's schedule has been hellish lately, which lead to his missing a couple of deadlines. The good part about this is that the things that made him late
were things that got him money. Paying work is always a higher priority than this comic. If we get enough readers that we can actually start making money, maybe I'll start telling him the comic is more important. Anyway, two new pages. At this point, as of the first of April,
we are only two weeks behind. Apologies to those of you who check us weekly. Speaking of, if you like this comic, please drop me a line. At this point, I only know of about twenty readers, not counting the creators...
And for those of you wondering - Yes, Jacosta's underage... However... if you look closely, she's never actually showing skin... It's called allusion. Same trick Disney used in Bambi.
March 10, 2005: We're nearly completely caught up with the
missing comics, now. Chris managed to get three comics - February 18, February 25, and March 03 set together and to me earlier this week, which left me with lettering
and saving them all up. At this point, we're only one page behind. Hopefully, we'll have two pages for you next week.
Also, coming soonish, a new layout! Won't that be something?
November 12, 2004: Sorry about the lack of two comics this week.
The Laptop on which Anara is constructed has had a serious brain-spasm
and
thus things have gotten weird. Chris is getting me the pages as fast
as he can - due to a couple of issues, he had to go back and redo two
of the
next few pages. Not fun. However, you do get color this
week. Rejoice! As soon as the next page is ready, I'll put it up. Yes,
the Murderin' is in full swing...
August 27, 2004: Well,
Chris is back from Gencon, and we have filler. We're good until September
10,
at which point, we should have plenty of new pages for you. The things
that man will do for his job.
August 12, 2004: We
need FILLER! Chris is off to Gencon, and has been swamped by work for the last few weeks, meaning that his pages are delayed until the end of the 'con. We're good until August 13th, and then we have to wait for the erstwhile Mr. Rubenstahl to get his head back together and do that voodoo that he do so very well. If you're interested, throw me an e-mail (use the link at the left), and send me something that's 600 by 800. And now, off to work!
July 28, 2004: Put up a new "Link To Us" pic
on the front page. Not a whole lot of changes to the site,
overall,
but
I figured
we could use a spiffy new link pic. Woo.
June 18, 2004: Fixed the obnoxious green
bars on the Links page that were supposed to be light
grey.
Rather,
they were light grey... In Mozilla and Netscape and Safari and other standards compliant browsers. Bet you can't name the browser in which they weren't light grey. *sigh* Anyway, it's fixed, now.
June 15, 2004: Updated the Links Section with
a link over to "Jack Of All Trades," a
pretty amusing Fantasy Comic, and a better
overall layout. No need to figure out where
one block
of text ends and the next begins (I've been
planning on doing this for a while and finally
got around
to it.) Thanks to Vaz at Underpower for pointing me at it via his most recent rant. I'd lost the link in the shuffle. Go check it out! Tell them we sent you!
June 04, 2004: Two Character Bios in two
weeks. Expect two more after the end of Shattering The Mirror, our next Story Arc. Also, expect something a bit colorful, here in a bit.
May 21, 2004: Well, that does
it for the first prologue arc of Anara. Sass't
has told
you his tale, and now, you get to see what
happens
to the rest
of the world for a bit. Don't worry, he's still around, but we're going to shift focus (and tense) for a bit and come back to him, later. The Archives have been updated with a list of pages for Remembering The Dead, and now it's time to move on to our next prologue arc - Shattering The Mirror. Why three prologues? Because that's how it's written!
March 12, 2004: Put our fancy new "Link To Us" pic up. It's just an image, you don't get any fancy "autolink" html
or anything to muddy up your code. I
don't believe in enforcing my own code-monkey
mannerisms on other websites. The comic
will soon pass the point at which it stopped
on the last run. Keep reading! Also, if
you like the comic, drop us
a line!
February 20, 2004: Added a link to Tomodachi Forever in the Links section. The Products and Gallery sections are being worked on. Might soon have a cyberbegging button up so that you can potentially pay my artists and sysadmin (but not me, because, frankly, they deserve it more than me because they make this site go). Check out Tomo and have fun!
January 11, 2004: Restarted the Comic.
It's been idle for nearly a year and
a half, and this is the time to restart it. Life
has gotten back to semi-normal for the
folks involved in it, and if it doesn't
restart soon, it
never will. So, welcome back!
